How I would have done a New Ghostbusters Movie (written before seeing the new movie) I would not have done a remake. I would keep both of the original movies as cannon backstory and used them as a springboard for the new movies. The reasons I would do this are as follows: 1.  There is a built in explanation for the existence of all the gadgets, so instead of spending anywhere from ½ to an hour setting up technology and concepts they can just do a quick reminder here and there. 2. Any changes to the look of the movie can be explained by 30 years of improvements in the Ghostbusters technology, and the different ghost effects can be ex
